Global E&C is proud to Sponsor Aberdeen’s Biggest Hackathon

The Robert Gordon (RGU) Set to Host Annual Hackathon Event

The Robert Gordon (RGU) Hackathon, RGUHack, is an annual 24-hour student-orientated event where students are tasked with a digital challenge to bring to life.

Open to university students across the country, participants take on digital challenges and create functioning software and hardware solutions by the end of the event.

Taking place between the 25th and 26th February, RGUHack is Aberdeen’s largest hackathon which takes place in the ‘bear pit’ atrium of the Sir Ian Wood building at RGU. Over 100 students are set to attend this all-inclusive, free event organised for students by students.

This is the second year in a row that Global E&C has sponsored the hackathon. Along with last year's sponsorship, Global E&C also submitting our own challenge to the students, encouraging them to inject some fresh thinking into our own business digital ecosystem called Slingshot. The challenge Global E&C set went on to win first-place through the creation and implementation of a blockchain for National Grid energy consumption. From last year's success, we recruited two students to join our programming team.

At Global E&C, we believe in empowering our people to fully embrace technological advances and digital solutions that will enhance our efforts in supporting the energy sector. Our experience shows that when companies embrace digitalisation, it can unlock a wealth of environmental, sustainable and improved performances.

As the most digitally advanced EPC service provider to the energy industry, Global E&C is delighted to support this event and wish all the students the best of luck.
