The oil and gas sector has a key role to play in helping the UK deliver the phased energy transition that is critical to achieving a fully decarbonised economy.

It is a big challenge, but one that the industry has embraced. Decarbonisation is no longer a choice for businesses – it is a necessity for survival, it is morally and commercially the right thing to do and we must all work together to make sure we achieve the goals set out in OGUK’s Roadmap 2035: A Blueprint for Net Zero.

At Global E&C we do not see this transition as moving into a new space or unknown territory.

Operating in a mature basin like the UK North Sea, our customers have long been focused on how best to optimise production and improve efficiency safely and responsibly. So, while their focus may have shifted to CO2 and greenhouse gas reduction, we see this as a natural evolution of the work we have been doing for many years, work that has been adding value on EPC projects since our inception.

The work scopes may be different, but the skills, experience and expertise needed to deliver them remain the same. There is no need for us to reinvent ourselves to support the energy transition. We are already helping operators to decarbonise their assets and expect this to be a significant growth area for our business as the momentum behind energy transition gathers pace.
