Digital transformation is key to Global E&C’s success as a challenger EPC business.

To compete in the brownfield EPC market, we knew we had to take digitalisation to a different level, a level where none of our competitors had gone. We knew we had to be bold and push boundaries.

It is widely acknowledged that the oil and gas industry has a bad problem in making good data decisions. Despite significant investment in data solutions, poor digital capability, a lack of system integration and a heavy reliance on paper-based packages is still a barrier to using data in the right way.

So, with our #WeChallenge mindset, we looked at how we could employ technology to make data work harder and more effectively for our customers and developed a range of solutions that are revamping the digital landscape in the energy sector.

We even created our own Challenge Centre, a space in our head office dedicated to technology, innovation and continual improvement. An environment where bold, creative and disruptive thinking is encouraged, where there is no such thing as a ridiculous idea or a stupid question.

In 2019, we designed and built Slingshot, our digital eco-system that seamlessly integrates industry-leading third-party systems such as Primavera, Onboard Tracker, Proarc and Dynamics.

Developed specifically for the brownfield delivery model, Slingshot gives our customers instant access to the right information at the right time, all in one place, reducing risk and improving transparency, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Accessed through an online portal, all activity and data can be tracked on a live digital platform, giving real-time visibility and assurance that the information is authentic and honest, allowing customers to make good, informed, data-driven decisions.

Such is our commitment to digitalisation, we employ our own team of developers who work from our Slingshot Lab in our head office to support the ongoing development of Slingshot and drive our wider digital agenda.

Slingshot is a great example of how we used our mindset and agility to react and respond to the needs of the market and come up with a precision tool that has been transformational for our business and for our customers.
